Le caratteristiche del Predator illustrate, martedì 11 Gennaio sul canale satellitare, dal Comandante del Task Group ‘Astore’ Il Predator, pilotato da una GCS (Ground Control Station),può volare fino ad 8.000 metri di quota per oltre 20 ore consecutive. Sotto il velivolo sono installati i sensori di bordo che permettono di realizzare delle riprese elettro-ottiche ed infrarossi del territorio che sono trasmesse in tempo reale, per l’interpretazione, ad un operatore a terra. Bassa visibilità, lunga persistenza sull’obiettivo e nessun rischio per il personale impegnato nella sua gestione sono le caratteristiche che rendono il Predator un assetto aereo ideale per la sorveglianza di aree ad alto rischio.
