Friday, January 23rd, at the 6th Air Wing “Alfredo Fusco” of Ghedi, the institutional visit of Chief of the Air Staff Air Force Corps General Antonio Conserva, Accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Chief of SMA, Brigadier General Giacomo Lacaita, and the Chief of Sub-Officers, Graduates and Military Personnel President, 1st Lieutenant Roberto Carpentieri.

To welcome the highest authority, the Commander of Combat Forces Air Division General Marco Lant, and the Commander of the Air Wing, Colonel Gianmarco Di Loreto who, in the briefing presenting the Department’s activities, illustrated the ongoing process of infrastructural and technological renewal, which involves both military installations and operational systems, confirming the Stormo’s constant commitment to modernization, innovation, and maintaining the highest operational standards, while never losing sight of the primary human component.

Following this, the General Conserva he met with military and civilian personnel for a moment of listening and shared dialogue, which covered everything from training to initiatives designed to enhance professional skills and the employment of personnel themselves, to which words of appreciation for the enthusiasm and professionalism shown by the personnel were expressed. “Red Devils” in addressing the complexity of the mission: “Your operational capability is strategic for Italy and for NATO.”.

The visit continued at the new Stormo facilities, including the ‘JSF Citadel’, the logistical infrastructure, the operational command and control centers, as well as the base of the Military Hydroplane Airport of Desenzano del Garda, characterized by a very extensive exhibition area that faithfully retraces the epic of the “Coppa Schneider’” and the “High-Speed Department””, as well as all the events that led, in the distant 1934, to the conquest of record absolute speed by Marshal Agello, equipped with MC-72.

The institutional visit concluded with the signing of the Honor Roll at the Office of the Commander of the 6th Air Wing, where the glorious War Flag of the Division, awarded three times the honorific of the Order of Merit, is kept. It 6th Wing “Alfredo Fusco” has the task of acquiring and maintaining the ability to conduct attack operations, reconnaissance, and support for surface forces, electronic reconnaissance, and support for attack forces against targets related to the forces and the potential enemy. It ensures the air defense of the national interest area, contributing to the control of the airspace related to it since the time of peace. It carries out air defense operations in the assigned areas as part of participation in international operations throughout the spectrum of the conflict and/or a crisis. It ensures the operational conversion and standardization of the flight crews assigned to the Tornado IDS/ECR line. Operates with PA-200 aircraft “Tornado” e F-35A “Lightning II. It collaborates with the civil authorities for public order, in cases of emergency and/or natural disasters.
