The Air Force operates 24 hours a day for the security of the country and its citizens, ensuring airspace control and protecting national interests, even abroad. In compliance with political will and international agreements, the Air Force contributes to the security of the country and the defence of vital national interests, conducting operations in Italy and abroad.

Present and future
For “Space,” we mean the environment that extends beyond the so-called Kármán line, which by convention is set at an altitude of approximately 100 km. Below this, the atmospheric band can be divided into “airspace” up to 18/20 km and “aerospace,” which covers the broad area between 18/20 km altitude and the Kármán line. The Italian Air Force's strategy recognises a clear distinction between the two environments and values the Force's expertise, acquired through the experience and high specialisation of its personnel.

The Air Force, like any organisation, is a living and continuously growing entity, which constantly modifies, adapts, and moves, to acquire an ever-greater capacity for rapid and dynamic adaptation, necessary to face the changes in international and national scenarios.

Personnel constitute the most strategically relevant resource of the Air Force: the key element, the engine and the heart of our Organisation and the custodian of the Armed Force's founding values. The men and women of the Air Force, through their daily commitment, express the Air Force's contribution to national security, the protection of national interests and the provision of essential services for the benefit of the citizenry.

We support the development and growth of Italian sport.
In addition to its various defining institutional duties, the Italian Air Force pursues the objective of enhancing its national sporting heritage of excellence, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Armed Forces and CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee).
