Historical Office

His origins they date back to the “Historical Section of the General Staff of the Royal Air Force”, founded in 1926, which performed the function of collecting and classifying all historical material, in order to draw up an official report on the development and use, in peace and war, of the new “Arm”.

For almost a hundred years, the Historical Office has been working to ensure the widest possible dissemination of topics relating to the History of the Italian Air Force, providing its assistance to those who carry out research activities in this sector and competing for promotion of initiatives useful for improving knowledge of Italian military history.

The Office currently carries out a range of important activities, from collecting documents and publishing historical works to managing the library, all aimed at the continuous and constant enrichment of the Armed Force's museum heritage.

Library

The Central Air Force Library is located in the Historical Office. The library's collection, specifically on aeronautical and aerospace history and technology, comprises approximately 33,000 volumes.
