Wednesday 23 July 2025’International Flight Training School (Institute for the Future of the Teaching Profession) at Decimomannu hosted the Chief of the Spanish Air and Space Force, Air General Francisco Braco Carbó, on an official visit to the Sardinian base.
The Iberian authority, accompanied by a delegation, was welcomed at the IFTS facilities by the Commander of Air Force Schools/3rd Air Region, Air Force General Francesco Vestito, representing the Italian Air Force, and from Colonel Gianfranco Liccardo, Commander of the 61st Wing.
During the visit, General Braco Carbó was able to closely appreciate the excellence of the Decimomannu training hub, an internationally leading facility that is the result of the synergy between the Air Force and Leonardo, and a benchmark centre for advanced military pilot training.
At the end of the usual introductory briefing of the Department, the end-of-course certificates were presented. LIFT (Lead-In to Fighter Traininga Four Spanish attendees who have successfully completed the preparatory training course for employment on latest-generation combat aircraft.
The event represented a further step in strengthening ties between air forces, confirming IFTS as a benchmark for excellence in international training.
The’International Flight Training School It is an advanced military flight training school, born from the collaboration between the Italian Air Force and Leonardo S.p.A. The project is part of the expansion of national training offerings internationally and is managed by 212th Flying Group/IFTS, joint of 61st Wing in Galatina, located at the Decimomannu air base.
