The historical symposium has officially opened the Armed Force's Centenary celebrations, retracing, together with experts from the military, academic, and journalistic worlds, the most significant moments of these first hundred years of history: from its origins, closely linked to the pioneers of flight and the surprising developments of air travel at the beginning of the 20th century, to the role and capabilities that the Air Force is able to express today at a national and international level, with an eye towards the domains of aerospace and cyber.

Numerous participants from around the world, representing national and international institutions, industry, civil society, universities, research institutes, and specialist media, met at the Air Force Academy. The aim was to address, from a multidisciplinary perspective and through a holistic approach, the challenge of developing hypersonic capability. This will support the Air Force's core role as a responsible and proactive player in the nation's technological innovation, as well as within the broader European context. The Symposium provided a unique platform for discussion to stimulate new ideas, future projects, and new relationships. Most importantly, it helped to chart a political-strategic outlook in a sector of significant importance for national defence and technological development.
Aeronautical Culture Courses
The Aeronautical Culture Courses are aimed at secondary school students, aged between 16 and 20, and are part of the initiatives aimed at information and orientation.
Participation in the event by students is optional and completely free of charge. The courses last two weeks and consist of a theoretical phase that includes a series of lectures on the principles of flight and the operation of aeroplanes, and a practical phase that includes an acclimatisation flight in a propeller-driven aircraft (Siai-208) piloted by an Air Force flight instructor.
All participating students are issued with a certificate of attendance that can award merit points in certain Air Force competitions.
At the end of the course, a ranking is drawn up based on the level of learning of the theoretical lessons and flying aptitude demonstrated.
The first 2 or 3 classified are granted, as a prize, the opportunity to attend, completely free of charge, a glider flying internship at the Gliding Group of the 60th Wing in Guidonia (RM).
