Update meeting for doctors, nurses, pilots, flight crews and experimenters
The event was attended by the highest representatives of the General Staff of the A.M. Logistics Command, the Military Health Service, represented among others by Inspector General Enrico Tomao, Head of the A.M. Medical Service, the Air Force of the Army, the Navy of the Military, the Armed Forces of the State, as well as the university world and the Lazio health service.
During the conference the following topics were discussed:
– EFFECTS OF IONIZING RADIATION ON THE ATMOSPHERIC AND EXTRA-ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHT
– MEDICAL ASPECTS OF THE SPACESHIP FLIGHT
– TRAINING OF THE ASTRONAUTS
– EMERGENCY ON BOARD THE I.I.S.
– NVG AND IPOSSIA
– POTENTIAL BIOMARKERS OF STRESS IN THE ATMOSPHERIC AND EXTRA-ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHTS
– UPDATE ON THE REGULATIONS FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE MEDICAL CERTIFICATE OF FITNESS FOR FLIGHT: Throughout the day, all those professional figures involved in operating in an atmospheric and extra-atmospheric environment were involved, interacting with each other in order to optimize performance and promote flight safety. Each intervention proved very stimulating for the audience, to the point of generating an intense and fruitful debate in which all the professional figures present took part. The RMAS focuses its activities on two main sectors: the experimentation of the typical aspects of the flight activity and the aerophysiological training of the navigating personnel. The experimental activity focuses on the pathophysiological aspects of the flight activity, through simulation with the large equipment provided (hypobaric chamber, spatial disorientation device, night vision trainer, ejection seat trainer) or during real flight. Regarding training activities, the Department provides general (basic, periodic and initial) courses and monothematic courses (hypobaric physiology, spatial disorientation and night vision), which, through theoretical lessons and practical exercises, address topics in aeronautical medicine closely related to flight activity. In light of the new operational requirements of the Armed Forces, which arose with the entry of high-dynamic aircraft, the Department has obtained the USAF certification to conduct aerophysiological training courses at an international level for air navigation personnel.
