A Falcon 50 of the A.M. transported a woman in need of urgent medical care due to a serious respiratory illness. The request for transport, which became necessary to ensure the patient immediate specialized medical care, was submitted by the Cagliari Prefecture to the Situation Room of the Air Force General Staff, which immediately ordered the medical flight with the aircraft of the 31st Squadron from Ciampino (Rome).
The Falcon 50, which landed at approximately 12:13 at the “Mario Mameli” airport in Cagliari-Elmas, took off with the patient and the medical staff of the Sirai hospital, then took off at approximately 12:33 towards the Bologna airport, where the patient was transferred to the hospital’s specialist facility.
Cagliari-Elmas Airport currently represents, for the entire southern part of Sardinia, the most used airport for this type of flights, as it is close to the main hospital facilities of the capital and is capable of ensuring, with its staff, adequate assistance to aircraft and crews passing through, with rapid and safe access to the flight area for ambulances coming from the city hospitals.
