The visit to the Air Force Flying School allowed for an important exchange of experiences in pilot training.
Captain Naouar was able to learn about the organisation of the Department, the programmes, the current flight procedures and the aircraft in service, the Aermacchi T.260B. Accompanied during the visit by Captain Fabio B., a flight instructor at the “Graziani”, he initially attended an informative briefing on the historical background and flight activities of the 70th Wing, currently engaged in the selection of pilot students for the “Pegaso V” Academic Course. In the following days, he visited the 207th Flight Group, the Professional Training Group, the Aircraft Maintenance Group and the flight simulator room, showing particular interest in the new teaching aids available at the flight school.
The three-day visit facilitated a significant exchange of experiences regarding pilot training. The training and instructional programmes of the Armed Forces of both states were the subject of numerous discussions, which revealed several similarities as well as a substantial difference: in Tunisia, training for the Military Pilot's Licence, unlike in Italy, is carried out on specific aircraft based on the pilot's assignment to a Unit from the initial stage of training.
Captain Naouar, before leaving the “Comani”, was received by Colonel Pilot Salvatore Romeo, Commander of the 70th Wing, to whom he expressed his personal satisfaction for the objectives achieved within the scope of Cooperation.
For over half a century, flight training courses for the selection and training of cadets from the Air Force, other Armed Forces and State armed Corps, and allied and friendly countries have been taking place at the Pontine Department.
