General Ercolani visits the Air Force Coordination and Control Service at Linate
On Monday 17th September, Air Brigade General Gianluca Ercolani, Commander of the Italian Air Operation Centre (IT-AOC) at COA, Poggio Renatico, visited the Air Force Coordination and Control Service (SCCAM) at Milan Linate. Received by the Commander of the Ciampino Air Force Coordination and Control Services Department (RSCCAM) and the Head of the Milan SCCAM, General Ercolani began his visit with a briefing on the Unit's activities. After meeting with the Director of ACC Milan, the visit continued in the Operations Room, where he was able to observe the level of interaction between the military and civilian components, which is instrumental for the SCC to fulfil its primary functions in a highly complex airspace volume such as that serving the Milanese area. This was followed by a meeting with the Department's Personnel. On this occasion, the Commander of the IT-AOC wished to emphasise the importance of the operations carried out daily by the Coordination and Control Services personnel, urging them to be constantly aware and proud of carrying out a professional activity that is strictly functional to the responsibilities of the IT-AOC within the broader context of the Armed Force's Command and Control functions.
The Italian Air Force's Coordination and Control Services, located at the adjacent ENAV Area Control Centres, are responsible for managing operational air traffic and the airspace reserved for it, as well as for collecting and transmitting to the relevant bodies the information necessary for the performance of national airspace surveillance services.
