The statue received the blessing from His Eminence Mons. Dal Cin on Thursday 6th December. A delegation from the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa travelled to the Holy House of Loreto (AN) for the blessing of a statue of the Madonna of Loreto donated to the Tuscan Transport Department. The delegation, led by Brigadier General of the Air Force Girolamo Iadicicco, commander of the 46th Brigade, and accompanied by Colonel Davide Salerno, commander of the Aviation English Training Center of Loreto (AN), was received by His Eminence Mons. Fabio Dal Cin, Archbishop Prelate of Loreto and Pontifical Delegate for the Holy House. The statue of the Blessed Virgin, approximately one meter high, will be placed inside the Sacrario di Kindu, at the main entrance of the Brigade, which was built in March 1963 and dedicated to the 13 aviators killed in the former Belgian Congo during the execution of a UN Peace Mission (November 11, 1961). The 46th Air Brigade is a Department subordinate to the Air Force Command through the Special Support Forces Command, which carries out a wide range of missions in the field of air transport, both of a purely military nature – with participation in all Operational Theatres where the Italian Armed Forces are present – and in collaboration with civil agencies of the State (the so-called Dual Use), as in the case of humanitarian aid, evacuations of populations in difficulty and interventions in the event of natural disasters.
The Cen.For.Av.En is subordinate to the Command Schools /3rd Air Region of Bari and provides training in the field of Aviation English for:
– air navigation personnel of the Air Force, other Armed Forces and Departments, and non-navigational personnel (Flight Controllers) for the subsequent certification by ENAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) for the issuance of the “EASA standard commercial pilot license” and the “Community license of air traffic controllers”;
– personnel belonging to specific specialties who, in accordance with European regulations in the sector, require an adequate level of technical and linguistic knowledge in order to obtain the “licence of aeronautical maintenance”.
