Six Lion V Officers complete the Military Pilot's Licence Phase II. The ceremony was presided over by General G. Dimakogiannis, Commander of the 120th FTW (Flying Training Wing), personnel from the 364th FTS, all personnel from R.A.M.I. Kalamata, as well as the families of the Officers who, during the day, were able to learn about the environment in which their sons trained.
Words of appreciation for the achievements, both professionally and personally, were addressed to the Officers by the Commander of the 364 FTS Lieutenant Colonel Nick Christpoulos, and by the Commander of RAMI Kalamata, Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Esposito: the common denominator of their speeches was the emphasis on “teamwork” with which the young Officers faced the selection phase and the wish for them to continue with dedication towards ambitious future goals.
For the six officers, the completion of the second phase process therefore represents a fundamental step through which they gain access to the final phase of obtaining their military pilot's wings.
The Kalamata Advanced Training Unit (R.A.M.I.) (GR), established in April 2009, cooperates, in an international environment, in the second-phase flight training on the T6 Texan II aircraft for trainees of the Italian Air Force and the Hellenic Air Force. Since its establishment to date, with approximately 4300 flight hours, 29 Officers have been trained.
The Italy-Greece collaboration in training the future pilots of the two countries demonstrates how the Air Force has long since grasped the widespread perception of the strategic importance of a cooperative dimension in the fundamental sector of training.
