The funeral was held today in Rome at the Basilica of Saint Lawrence outside the walls. The funeral of Maria Fede Caproni di Taliedo, daughter of aviation pioneer Gianni Caproni, an enlightened and courageous industrialist who wrote foundational pages in global aeronautical history, was held today in Rome at the Basilica of San Lorenzo fuori le mura. CWith Maria Fede Caproni's passing, a central figure in aeronautical culture over the last 60 years disappears. She inspired and often personally spearheaded countless initiatives with the sole aim of promoting and publicising the world of aviation, its people, its machines, but above all, the ideas that have driven technological progress, of which the Caproni family has been a protagonist for many years. A curious and passionate woman with interests that flowed and mingled from the world of art to technology, and from aeronautical history to botany, Maria Fede Caproni always poured, until her final days, a deep and selfless passion for the universe of flight into everything she did or promoted, displaying boundless love for the Air Force. For decades, her drawing-room-study was the meeting point for personalities from all walks of life who recognised Maria Fede Caproni's authority and expertise. Seated at her desk, she would offer advice, express enthusiasm or indignation, and work personally. She would concentrate on drawing colourful and imaginative characters or floral designs, bringing surprising energy and great genius to everything she did.
