Following the success achieved in other Italian cities, the exhibition on “One Hundred Years of the Air Force. The history, capabilities, and traditions of the Air Force in its first 100 years” arrives at the “Le Gallerie” Museum in Trento, the exhibition space managed by the Historical Museum Foundation.”
On the occasion of the Centenary of the Air Force, the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation opened on Tuesday 6 June at “The Galleries” in Trento, the exhibition “One Hundred Years of the Air Force. The history, capabilities and traditions of the Air Force in its first 100 years”.
This is a travelling exhibition that is visiting numerous Italian cities and has so far registered significant public and participation success.
The exhibition represents one Outreach tool it is an opportunity to retrace the 100 years of the history of’Blue Weapon, through a graphical journey that highlights the events that have characterised its history from its origins to projecting the visitor towards the future.
The exhibition route is enhanced by some photographs and objects from the collections of Caproni Aeronautical Museum, including some model aeroplanes donated by Cav. Daniele and Monica Grottolo.
The honours during the inauguration ceremony were performed by the Director of the Historical Museum Foundation of Trentino, Giuseppe Ferrandi, who highlighted the importance for an institution like the Historical Museum Foundation of Trentino to be part of the Aeronautics Centenary: “First of all, because the Air Force is a fundamental republican institution for the defence of democracy, and secondly, because we believe that this exhibition can serve to educate citizens. By chance, the centenary of the Air Force coincides with our centenary. – added Ferrandi – and these 100 years can be the starting point for imagining a common future”.
“We are proud and honoured to host this interesting exhibition, which allows us to introduce the citizens of Trentino to the Italian Air Force and the important service it provides.” said the Vice-President of the Regional Council of Trentino Alto Adige/Südtirol, Roberto Paccher, “An essential, important, and also fascinating work, told through the images on display here. Our land has had five gold medals for military valour: Trentino therefore hosts this exhibition with merit and understanding because it has contributed to making the Air Force great.”.
Representing the Italian Air Force was the Chief Inspector General Basilio Di Martino, President of the Italian Air Force Centenary Programme Office, who first wished to thank the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation for this important occasion and highlighted how “The exhibition aims to be a narrative of what the Air Force has been over 100 years of history lived in service to the Nation, a way of saying thank you to Italians for what they have given us over this period and to reaffirm that, just as we have been and are present, we will always be there, in the spirit of continuity that comes from history and of a drive towards the future that is characteristic of the Air Force. Trento – concluded the general – it couldn't be anything but a stop on this journey, given all that it has represented in Italian history and also for the role that Gianni Caproni had in the history of aviation, first, and aeronautics, then.”.
The exhibition will be open from 7 June to 3 September, during the following hours:
Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Closed Mondays, free entry).
