Dal 1° Ottobre 1984 lo Stormo è ritornato operativo con il 18° Gruppo C.I.
“Dobbiamo essere orgogliosi di quello che siamo stati e soprattutto di quello che siamo: Trapani è uno Stormo vivo!” – ha proseguito -“con lo spirito di corpo che ci accomuna e ci contraddistingue, dobbiamo guardare al futuro con la consapevolezza degli insegnamenti appresi nel passato per puntare sempre all’eccellenza”. Al termine della cerimonia sono stati commemorati quanti, sotto il glorioso drappo della Bandiera di Guerra del 37° Stormo e al servizio dell’Aeronautica Militare, hanno offerto la propria vita per la Patriaattraverso l’apposizione di una Corona al Lapidario dei Caduti.Venerdì 19 Settembre, peraltro, presso l’hangar del Servizio Tecnico Rinforzato, si era svolta anche la cerimonia di avvicendamento al Comando del 18° Gruppo Caccia Intercettori, preceduta dal tradizionale “cambio in volo”, ovvero da una serie di passaggi in formazione di 4 velivoli Eurofighter
