A young patient from Puglia who suffered a severe polytrauma with burns was transported aboard a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Squadron at Ciampino. The request for transport, which was necessary to ensure the girl immediate specialized medical care, was received by the Situation Room of the Air Force General Staff, which immediately ordered the flight to be carried out. The 31st Squadron aircraft, which took off from Ciampino at 10:00, landed at the military airport of Lecce after about an hour of flight and, after accommodating the patient accompanied by her parents and two doctors from the Puglia hospital, it departed towards Pisa, where an ambulance was waiting to transport the patient to the Grand Ulcer Center. The aircraft of the 31st Ciampino Squadron are used for state transport and for public utility missions, such as the emergency medical transport of sick people, severely traumatized people, and organs for transplantation, as well as for interventions in favor of people in any other situation of risk. This latter activity, given the imminent danger to the lives of the people transported, requires a level of readiness twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
