On Monday 17 June, a patient who was politraumatized and in imminent danger of his life was transported from Ponza to Latina via the Air Operations Command of the Italian Air Force (COA) in Ferrara. The 21st Group of the 9th Air Wing of the Italian Air Force, based in Grazzanise, was activated; from there an AB-212 helicopter took off at 23:50 from Ponza. After about half an hour of flight, the helicopter arrived on the island and picked up the patient assisted by a paramedic. Subsequently, the helicopter took off towards Latina where, after about 30 minutes of flight, it landed at Radio Faro AM. A coast guard ambulance transported the patient from the military aircraft; an ambulance then transferred the patient to the Santa Maria Goretti Hospital.
