Il bambino è stato immediatamente trasferito presso l’Ospedale Pediatrico “Giannina Gaslini” Equipaggi e velivoli da trasporto dell’Aeronautica Militare sono pronti giorno e notte, 365 giorni all’anno, 24 ore su 24 per assicurare, laddove richiesto e ritenuto necessario per motivi di urgenza, il trasporto sanitario di persone in imminente pericolo di vita, trasporto organi o equipe mediche come in questa occasione. Sono centinaia ogni anno le ore di volo effettuate per questo genere di interventi dagli aerei del31st Wingof Ciampino, from14th Wingof Pratica di Mare and the46th Air Brigadedi Pisa. Per questo genere di missioni di soccorso, ove ci siano particolarinecessità operative, vengono impiegati anche gli elicotteri del15th Wing.
