A positive experience for young students working alongside Italian Air Force technicians. DFrom Monday 6 October to Wednesday 29 October, four students from the Istituto Tecnico Superiore Lombardo Mobilità Sostenibile in Somma Lombardo completed a training internship at the 1st Aircraft Maintenance Department (R.M.V.) in Cameri. The activity was organised following an agreement signed by the Director of 1st R.M.V., Colonel Flavio Guercio, and the President of the Higher Technical Institute Foundation for the Intermodal Transport and Logistics Sector, Mr Angelo Candiani, with the aim of facilitating career choices and implementing periods of alternating study and work.Specifically, the work undertaken covered various areas pertinent to aircraft maintenance. The trainees were thus able to participate in the Department's own activities, such as, for example, the maintenance and assembly of mechanical components, the execution of functional tests on aircraft, and the execution of checks using the main non-destructive techniques. During the internship, the training and orientation activities were followed and verified by Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Farris, the tutor designated by the Armed Force, assisted by the specialised military personnel serving in the host Department. On Friday 3 November, during a modest ceremony organised to mark the end of the training period, in the presence of Inspector General Lucio Bianchi, Head of the Multi-Role Tactical Aircraft Centre, souvenir photographs of the period spent at the Department were presented to the students. In this regard, President Candiani wished to thank the Air Force, and the 1st RMV in particular, for the opportunity offered, the enthusiasm, and the level of interest that the course has generated among the students. The 1st Aircraft Maintenance Department is the reference body for the Italian Air Force for Level 2 and 3 technical-engineering and logistical activities (“MRO&U” – Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul & Upgrade) on Tornado and Typhoon aircraft. It operates in Cameri under the command of the Polyfunctional Centre for Aerotactic Aircraft.
