Treatment and management of remote-sensing images. 21 September 2018 – At the Scuola di Aerocooperazione di Guidonia (RM), thirty military personnel, including Officers, Sub-Officers and Graduates of Permanent Troops, from various branches of the Armed Forces, successfully completed the 26th RSO (Remote Sensing Operator) course, whose objective is to provide the essential information for the recognition, treatment and management of remote-sensing images, with particular reference to those digital images derived from different types of optical and electro-optical sensors.
In the field of remote sensing, this initial expertise is a prerequisite for higher-level courses aimed at acquiring the qualifications of “Interpreter” and “Military Analyst of Remote-Sensed Images”.
Due to the increased needs for employment in various operations outside national borders, the SAC in Guidonia has increased its training offer in order to effectively meet the Armed Forces’ need to train personnel to be employed as Image Analysts in operational units, both domestically and in areas of operations abroad.
At the School of Aerocooperation, in fact, some of the attendees of this session will continue their professional training in the field by attending the RSI and RSMA (Remote Sensing Interpreter and Remote Sensing Military Analyst) courses (extraction of data from remote-sensing images through the implementation of processing processes and analysis of photointerpretation).
The Air Cooperation School is the inter-force military institute for specialist training and technical-operational validity in the field of remote sensing image interpretation and in that of air-ground and air-naval cooperation. For the training and qualification of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers, the commander of the School is the “National Certification Authority”.
The courses at the School of Aerocooperation are open, in addition to military personnel of the Armed Forces, also to personnel external to the Defence Administration and to military personnel of NATO and of countries participating in the international "Partnership for Peace" (PfP) programme.
The School’s mission is to provide an education of excellence, unique in the Defense sector, specializing national and international personnel in the fields of remote sensing and aerospace cooperation, through a highly motivated and professional staff and the use of cutting-edge technologies. As a vision, the School aims to maintain an educational offer of absolute quality, in a continuous and constant process of improvement and adaptation to the operational needs of the Defense sector, fully integrated into the international context. Professionalism and passion at the service of the country.
