Ferdinando Sguerri's book was presented at the Casa dell’Aviatore on Wednesday, 18 September at 3 PM. The event, organised by the National Association of Air Force Officers (ANUA) in collaboration with the Historical Office of the Italian Air Force – Publishing Section, was attended by Air Brigade General Claudio Salerno, Head of the 5th Department of the Air Force Staff. Following the welcome by the President of ANUA – Air Marshal Mario Majorani, General Salerno took the floor. After conveying the greetings of the Chief of the Air Force Staff, he highlighted the excellent editorial choice, emphasising the volume's value from the perspective of analysing aeronautical technological development in the historical period covered. General Salerno also reiterated the importance and usefulness of the accurate chronology, placed at the end of the volume, of important, and sometimes unknown, events in great and rapid aeronautical development.
General Inspector (c) Pagliuca briefly introduced the book and wished to introduce the author's talk, who, taking the floor, confirmed the book's aim to be accessible to a wide audience, providing a concise and interesting overview of the most significant inventions.
“The book – commented the author – It was written for those who want to know more about the worldwide technical development of aircraft. […] within the technological, sporting, economic, doctrinal, political, commercial, and military framework that, from 1903 to 1939, dictated the requirements for aircraft, both civil and military.”.
