With the approaching of Holy Pascha, on the morning of Thursday, March 21st, a delegation of the Experimental Flight Department, One of the Departments dependent on the Airborne Experimentation and Space Division (DASAS) from Pratica di Mare, she visited the Gianicolo headquarters of the’Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital from Rome, to bring a “Blue” smile to the little patients hospitalized.
The delegation, composed of the Commander of the RSV, Colonel Pilot Morgan Lovisa, Four officers, two pilots and two engineers, and four Specialist Sub-Officers were welcomed by Dr. Lucia Celesti, Head of the Operational Unit “Reception and Services for the Family” and by Sister Luisa, Sister Luisa belongs to the community of the Daughters of Charity of San Vincenzo de’ Paoli, to whom the Commander of the RSV has handed over a symbolic check bearing the amount raised from donations from the staff of the Department and intended for the “Mamme in difficoltà” project. Sister Luisa sincerely thanked the Commander and all the staff of the RSV for the gesture, adding that the sum will be used to support the food and accommodation expenses of the families of long-term patients from all over Italy and abroad.
A part of the RSV’s delegation then visited the Department of Cardiology, where the young patients, of various age groups, asked questions and took photos, satisfying their curiosity and distracting them from the hospital routine. They received gifts from the RSV’s military personnel in the form of gadgets from the Air Force, returning with sweet smiles.
Finally, at the hospital’s playroom, the delegation donated board games, puzzles, albums and colored pencils to expand the children’s opportunities to spend more time creatively.
The Air Experimentation Department of Aeronautics and Space It brings together, under a single Command, all the Study and Experimental Bodies of the Air Force.
The Division represents the main advisory body of the Armed Forces and the Defense Administration for flight testing of aircraft and weapon systems, the chemical-physical analysis and evaluation of structural and consumable materials, training and experimentation in the field of aerospace medicine, the management of operational software, and the operational verification of weapon systems.
Among the Departments dependent on the DASAS, the Experimental Flight Department has the task of supporting the Operational Departments of the Italian Air Force through the experimentation, it development, the’integration and the Validation of new weapon systems or those that have been modified. In response, furthermore, to the changing geopolitical, social, and economic context, the RSV has given a significant boost to activities supporting Operational Units, essentially through the tool of operational technical certification which allows for the rapid and autonomous implementation of Technological solutions able to meet new requirements in hostile theatres.
