On the evening of Monday 30 March a aircraft G-650 del 31st Wing of Ciampino has made a Emergency medical transport for a man in imminent danger of life. The patient was transferred from Pescara a Milan Linate to allow his immediate admission to the San Matteo Hospital in Pavia. The flight, as foreseen by the procedures for this type of activity, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office, which manages and coordinates the activities of the State aircraft fleet.

The operation was ordered by the Situation Room of the Air Staff at the request of Chieti Prefecture. Having taken off from Pescara shortly after 8:00 PM, the plane landed at Linate around 9:00 PM, where the patient and the medical team disembarked for onward transfer by ambulance.

Once the disembarkation operations were completed, the aircraft returned to Ciampino base. Ground logistical support was provided by the Milan-Linate Airport Command, which ensures 24-hour assistance to institutional and humanitarian flights transiting through the Lombard capital.

The Italian Air Force's flying units are available to the public 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating, even in complex meteorological conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of death, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances. Every year, hundreds of flight hours are carried out for this type of operation by the aircraft of the 31st Wing at Ciampino, the 14th Wing at Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade at Pisa, and the helicopters of the 15th Wing at Cervia.
