The life-saving flight, requested by the Prefecture of Naples, was carried out by a crew from the 31st Wing of Ciampino with a G650 aircraft.

 A just-concluded emergency medical transport carried out by a aircraft G650 del 31st Wing of the Air Force. The flight allowed the immediate transfer of a child from Naples–Capodichino Military Airport to Milan–Malpensa Civil Airport. 12 years, in imminent danger of death.

The rescue mission was activated at the request of Naples Prefecture. The young patient, who was previously admitted to the Santobono Pausilipon Paediatric Hospital in Naples, required urgent specialist treatment which was provided through immediate transfer to the Circolo and Macchi Foundation Hospital in Varese. The flight, as is standard for this type of operation, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office which manages and coordinates the activities of the State aircraft fleet.

The plane, which departed from Ciampino, took off from the military airport of Capodichino with the child on board shortly after 10 a.m. Throughout the entire journey, the little one was assisted by a specialised medical team and accompanied by a parent. The aircraft landed in Malpensa after about an hour of flight. Once they arrived at their destination, the child was immediately transferred by ambulance to the Lombardy hospital facility.

The operation was coordinated by the Summit Situation Room of the Milano Air Squad Command, the Air Force Operations Room, which among its tasks also includes organising and managing these types of missions for the benefit of the population.

The Italian Air Force's crews and transport aircraft are ready day and night, 365 days a year, to respond in the shortest possible time for urgent medical transports. These flights are crucial for ensuring the rapid transfer of critically ill patients, organs, or medical teams to specialised centres throughout the country. The service is carried out daily by the aircraft and crews of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, of 14th Practice Wing of Pratica di Mare, of 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and the helicopters of the 15th Air Wing of Cervia. Operational assets are constantly available to citizens to ensure prompt and professional assistance, even in complex circumstances.
