The emergency medical transport from Alghero to Genoa has concluded a few minutes ago, carried out with a Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Air Force of the Italian Air Force in favor of an 8-year-old girl suffering from a serious illness.
The emergency flight, requested by the Prefectural Authority of Sassari, was immediately arranged and coordinated by the Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the operational room of the Air Force that also has the task of activating and managing urgent medical transports, through the aircraft that the Armed Forces keep ready 24 hours a day, every day of the year, for this kind of need.
The Falcon 900 of the 31st Squadron, once it arrived at the military airport of Alghero, took on board the little patient and immediately took off towards the civilian airport of Genoa.
Once arrived at the Ligurian airport, the girl was transferred by ambulance to the “G. Gaslini” Pediatric Hospital. The military aircraft then returned to Ciampino Airport, where it resumed its operational readiness service.
Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force makes available means and crews ready to take off at any time and capable of operating even in complex meteorological conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of hours of flight are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Ciampino Squadron, the 14th Pratica di Mare Squadron and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
