From 5th to 7th December, the project management seminar for COI Difesa executives took place at Centocelle Airport.
The aim of the seminar was to present the systemic approach to project management that the Italian Air Force has been pursuing since 2007, based on three broad areas: the creation of a shared baseline culture, the implementation of the “Touch&Go” model and the development of operational tools. The training activities were divided over three intense mornings and enabled participants to gain an awareness of the effectiveness of a system capable of creating the prerequisites for managing projects successfully.
Officers from the Didactic and Managerial Training Centre, the Italian Air Force Staff and the Schools Command / 3rd Air Region, who already hold national and international project management certifications, attended the seminar as expert trainers. A significant contribution was made by Air Brigadier General Claudio Salerno, who, by virtue of his experience in the sector, emphasised how the use of a project management system fosters the management of organisational change in a context characterised by complex objectives and increasingly scarce resources.
The seminar aroused keen interest and met with widespread acclaim from the participants, who expressed the hope that further opportunities for contact and training will be organised, including at a technical level, in order to share and promote the systemic approach of project management among the Armed Forces.
The ceremony for the presentation of the certificates was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Joint Operations Headquarters (COI), Air Division General Settimo Caputo, who in turn reiterated the importance of project management as an innovative and effective approach to project management, expressing the hope that it will also be implemented in a joint-force environment through the training of specific professional profiles.
