At the event, in addition to the School's staff, the students' parents were present and were able to witness the solemn flag-raising ceremony and the final parade of the graduating students.
Immediately after, the certificate presentation ceremony took place, which began with speeches from the Course Leader, student Joudioux Celine, and Captain Ermanno Giannelli, Commander of the Nadir Course, for the customary thanks.
Next, Colonel Prisco Antonio Monaco, Commander of the Douhet School, took the floor and addressed the cadets: “Today is certainly a fundamental milestone for you, but it is not a finish line. Consider it rather a new starting point, as you will encounter many others on your path. Indeed, I would say that for you today is the beginning of everything!”And again“Even though you will no longer be together physically from tomorrow, you will remain linked to your course identity. You will all be able to count on a common heritage of ideals, sincere friendship, and a sense of belonging, a heritage of values that you inherit at the end of these three years and which I am sure will influence your future choices.” Continuing, “Satisfaction and personal fulfilment are results obtained through hard work; they do not fall from the sky because you are good people or because someone has provided for you. Never abandon your curiosity, your desire to learn, never give in to the temptation of feeling that you have achieved everything, because you would stop growing and aspiring to something more! Face the challenges that will come your way with humility and an open mind, seizing all the opportunities that life will offer you. Make good use of the knowledge, experience, and all the good things you have learned in this school. Do not be afraid to make mistakes… do not give up, and above all, do not give in to the temptation of attributing the cause of any failures to others; rather, be critical of yourselves, because by recognising your mistakes, you can break down the barriers separating you from your goal..”
Alongside the presentation of attendance certificates to the newly graduated students, the president of the Douhet Alumni Association, Rodolfo Moretti, symbolically welcomed the new members by presenting them with the badges of former students of the School.
At the end of the ceremony, after the final “Break ranks!“the students of the Nadir Course finally let loose in an emotional display that symbolically encompassed and brought an end to three years of sacrifices and shared experiences within the School.
The results achieved by the students of the Nadir course during the state exams were of an excellent level, with peaks of excellence reached by 4 students who scored 100. Furthermore, the student Joudioux Celine, Head Student, was also awarded honours. This is the fifth time in the school's history that a student has achieved this prestigious result.
The 37 students of the Nadir Course, 10 of whom are female, entered the School on 5th September 2016 to attend the three-year Classical and Scientific High School programme, having passed a particularly competitive entrance exam. Over the following three years, the students had the opportunity to continually challenge themselves with the extracurricular activities that distinguish the School's educational offering, such as survival courses at sea and in the mountains, familiarisation with glider flying, as well as numerous regional and national sporting and cultural competitions.
The Military Aviation School “Giulio Douhet“..., inaugurated in 2006, is a secondary school that offers advanced secondary education courses in classical and scientific streams, access to which is by public competition. The Institute's aim is to foster balanced growth in students in terms of their personal, cultural, moral, physical and character development, so that they possess the necessary skills to become good citizens and face the challenges of tomorrow, regardless of their future life choices.
