The document lays down the modalities of operational collaboration between the two Agencies for the purposes of civil-military coordination, with particular regard to the permeability of airspace reserved for military operations in favour of civil air traffic.
With the renewal of the agreement, signed by the SCCAM Commander, Colonel Virginio Bernabei, and the ACC Director, Dr. Francesco Minniti, the arrangements have been completed to enable the commencement, from 3 April, of the first phase of reorganisation of responsibility areas; subsequent phases are planned for 1 May and 13 November 2014 respectively.
The Air Force's Coordination and Control Services, part of the Air Operations Command (COA) at Poggio Renatico (FE), are units co-located at ENAV Area Control Centres. They are responsible for managing operational air traffic, the airspace reserved for it, and the collection and transmission of information to Air Defence Authorities, which is necessary for the surveillance of national airspace.
