Friday 17th May marked the conclusion for the 2012-2013 school year of the cultural exchange between the Giulio Douhet Military Aeronautics School of Florence and the École des Pupilles de l'Air of Grenoble. In particular, the cultural exchange involved the pupils of the “Espero” course of the Douhet School, who travelled last April to Grenoble, a city which, alongside offering historical and cultural stimuli, is also Europe's major hub for nanotechnology. The visit to the city of Lyon was also interesting.
The École des Pupilles de l'Air, in turn, was hosted in Florence where it was able to visit the most important Florentine museums and the nearby cities of Pisa and Siena.
The activity was particularly successful among the pupils, arousing curiosity and keen enthusiasm in them.
As reiterated by the Commander of the Douhet School, Colonel Claudio Icardi, during his welcome speech to the French delegation, the exchange takes on an international dimension and brings to life a series of extracurricular activities included in the educational offer, such as the study of the French language, which “it not only represents a cultural enrichment and an opportunity that the Douhet School offers them, but it could prove fundamental for their future should our young people try their hand in the world of diplomacy and certainly in that of the European Union alongside the English language already enhanced beyond normal curricular activity”.
The School has received significant praise from the parents of the boys and girls for this opportunity for cultural growth, as well as the hope that it can also be extended to the pupils of the other courses.
