On board was a contingent of Air Force personnel employed within the ISAF mission. The Boeing KC-767A, belonging to the 8th Group of the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare (Rome), arrived on the evening of 6th March at the Brindisi airport detachment from the Pratica di Mare military airport (RM). Following customs procedures, personnel embarkation, and aircraft loading and refuelling, it took off for Abu Dhabi Airport (United Arab Emirates – UAE).
Passenger embarkation and the loading of transported materials were carried out by the “Movement & Transportation” (M&T) personnel of the Operational Support Service Unit at the Brindisi Detachment, in synergy with Italian Army personnel from the 10th Transport Department in Bari. This was done using equipment provided by the airport company of the Brindisi hub, “Aeroporti di Puglia” (AdP), and by the World Food Programme, which Italy has hosted since 2000 on the site of the Salento Department.
