From 17 to 19 May 2022, the Air Force took part in Catania at the “Student Salon 2022“Organized by the University of the City of Etna.”.
The event, dedicated to post-graduation guidance, welcomed over 10,000 high school students from the area, with the aim of providing them with a comprehensive overview of educational and employment opportunities.
During the three days of the event, the students and accompanying professors had the opportunity to attend meetings and conferences organized by the University of Catania, as well as to visit the numerous exhibition areas and information points set up by the various local participating organizations, including those of the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the State.
At the inauguration ceremony, presided over by the Rector of UniCT Francesco Priolo, were present the highest military and civil authorities of the territory, including the President of the Sicilian Region, Nello Musumeci and the Prefect of Catania, Maria Carmela Librizzi.
The Air Force participated with an institutional stand and with an information and exhibition space created and curated by personnel from the 41st Anti-Aircraft Wing, the 11th Aircraft Maintenance Department and the 61st Predator Flight Group, all from the Sigonella base. Using video, the visitors were also shown the operational activities carried out by the Air Force all year round, 24 hours a day, in the service of the country and its citizens, both on national territory and abroad. Particular attention was paid to the various scientific, technological and aerospace fields in which the Armed Forces demonstrate cutting-edge expertise, while not neglecting the constant commitment in the field of training. Of course, there could not be a specific reference to the activities carried out by the AM based on Sigonella, including in particular the support services provided to all entities that transit or are based at the airport, maritime patrols, surveillance and reconnaissance, the control of civil air traffic, and the maintenance of the AM’s multi-engine aircraft.
There were many young people who interacted with the AM staff present; this was a valuable opportunity to obtain answers and useful information regarding career opportunities, paths for accessing careers in the Armed Forces, as well as the online procedures for registration and participation in competitions through the Ministry of Defense portal.
