Two spectacular air shows provided an extraordinary weekend and thrilled the very large crowds that flocked to the Riviera del Conero, on Saturday 20 August for the ’Air Show 2022“ in Porto Sant'Elpidio, and the following day for the ”Giubileo Lauretano Air Show 2022“ in Porto Recanati.

After crowding the Armed Forces' exhibition spaces, the public followed with their eyes turned towards the sky, the breathtaking manoeuvres of the Air Force's aircraft and helicopters. The two air shows began with the fly-past of an HH-139B helicopter from the 15th Wing of Cervia which, to the notes of the national anthem, carried the tricolour flag in flight.

After numerous flypasts and aerial displays, including those by aircraft from other Armed Forces and State Armed Corps, the time has finally come for the highly anticipated performances by the National Aerobatic Team (PAN). On both occasions, the Frecce Tricolori enthralled the crowds with their acrobatic programme repertoire, under the constant and careful radio supervision of the PAN Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Stefano Vit, drawing lines and curves in an azure sky with their white and coloured smoke trails, culminating in the execution of the manoeuvre  Alona, making  the longest tricolour in the world, to the music of “Turandot”.

Air Division General Francesco VESTITO, Commander of the 1st Air Region of Milan, who presided over both events, emphasised how the 313th Aerobatic Training Group “Frecce Tricolori” and the 15th SAR Wing are a source of pride for the Armed Forces, as exemplars that manage to convey to the public who watch them and to the entire citizenry the spirit and traditions of a winning team, such as the Air Force, which is preparing to celebrate 100 years of service to the country.
