In preparation for a multinational air defence exercise. The event is part of the training activities planned for 2014 within the framework of the so-called “5+5 initiative”, an agreement that since 2004 has involved countries in the Western Mediterranean basin to promote collaboration on common security and defence issues such as air defence, maritime surveillance, training, civil protection, and search and rescue.
The meeting, held by Office A7 Training of the Air Squad Command Staff and the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico, served to strengthen the spirit of collaboration among the participating nations and to share the various aspects relating to the planning and execution phases of the exercise, which will aim to train the command and control centres and the air defence units of the different participating countries.
