The aircraft, which has become part of the exhibition circuit of the Military Aviation Historical Museum, represents the only remaining example. The ceremony for the presentation of the restoration project took place at the “Velo” hangar and was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Giuseppe Bernardis. General of Squadron Giuseppe Scarinci, Class of 1919, among the few aviators still alive who flew the Ro.43 aircraft, was also present at the event. Recovered from the Centocelle airport in Rome in 1972, the Ro.43 was brought to Vigna di Valle where, in 2009, the restoration began, carried out and supervised by the Maintenance and Restoration Section of the same Military Aviation Historical Museum, as emphasized by Colonel Alessandro Gresta, Commander of the Vigna di Valle Airport. Lieutenant Colonel Massimo Mondini, Director of the Museum, specified that the specimen exhibited, whose Military Matriculation Number is MM27050 ORB-23, was part of a batch of 23 aircraft built according to a design by Engineer Giovanni Galasso of the Meridionali Meccaniche Aeronautiche S.p.A. in the first half of 1937; it remained at the Hydroplane School of Orbetello until its decommissioning.
