The seminar, organised by CESMA, was held in Rome at the Centre for Higher Defence Studies. The seminar, in addition to examining the operational and technological aspects of remotely piloted aircraft, their proliferation and their prominence in the press, focused on the philosophical, psychological and moral profiles relating to their asymmetric use by personnel who, operating far from the theatre of operations, might not be emotionally involved. This debate, lively in the United States and only just beginning in Europe, has not yet been addressed in Italy, and CESMA intends to fill this gap. The conference was sponsored by the Defence Staff and the Air Force, and was supported by CASD and Agusta Westland, Alenia Aermacchi and Elettronica Spa. Conference Programme
