In Taranto, a significant collaboration between the Armed Forces took place. On the 15th and 16th of November, at the Air Force Volunteer School (SVAM), an important solidarity initiative was promoted in connection with the blood donation campaign. The activities were coordinated and carried out by the SVAM Command and the Transfusion Section of the Inter-Forces Military Hospital Center in Taranto, who with their staff placed an equipped blood bank near the Corps Infirmary.
The blood collection, which involved healthcare personnel from several Armed Forces, involved military and civilian donors from the SVAM, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSP-A) and especially the students attending the 23rd VFP1 Delfo II – 2nd Incorporation Course 2018 who are currently undergoing training.
In particular, the students who already in October had shown great sensitivity by participating in the ADMO (Bone Marrow Donors Association) donation campaign, have once again confirmed their sensitivity by contributing to the collection of 65 blood bags that will be destined to the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Taranto to meet the needs of the community.
The event represents in a tangible way the important and significant synergy that exists between the Institutions and the Armed Forces, who, in addition to their daily commitment to their respective tasks, are also involved in important initiatives of social interest and activities that can concretely support the territory. The Transfusion Section of the Military Hospital Center of Taranto is part of the National Military Transfusion Service whose objectives are to achieve and maintain the complete autonomy of the Armed Forces in this field and to cooperate with the structures of the National Health Service, the Ministry of the Interior and the Department of Civil Protection in order to ensure the maintenance of adequate blood and blood derivative supplies.
