On this occasion, the transversal communication “Maglia” (network) between Flight Safety operators was launched. On Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 July, the first meeting of Flight Safety Officers of the Air Squad Command took place at the “Ajmone Cat” hall in Palazzo AM and at the Segredifesa Auditorium (Centocelle). The event, organised by Gen. S.A. Fernando Giancotti, Commander of the Air Squad, was attended by Gen. B.A. Antonio Agrusti, Inspector for Flight Safety, Col. Salvatore Brancaccio, Head of the Flight Safety Office of the Air Squad Command, and all the Officers in charge from the subordinate bodies.
In his opening speech, Gen. Giancotti highlighted how prevention is an intangible asset as “it is not possible to verify its effects immediately, but it bears fruit over time. In the fear that there might be lapses in attention, I wanted to reinstate the figure of the Air Task Force Command's Flight Safety Officer, and we are working towards the establishment of a single Office where the representatives of the subordinate Intermediate Commands will also be physically located. This, together with the “cross-cutting” contribution of all Unit operators, will exponentially multiply the value expressed in order to prevent accidents and thus protect human life and the operational capability of the Armed Force.“Following this were the speeches of General Agrusti, who outlined the planned courses of action and expressed his complete openness to any type of contribution and initiative, and Colonel Brancaccio, who led the meeting. Particularly interesting during the second day was the intense “question time” which allowed common themes to be explored from the bottom up, through the analysis of real experiences and “lessons learned”. With precisely this in mind, the meeting served to activate the related transversal communication “Link”, which is one of the main tools of the Team 4.0 Plan.
The “Maglia” allows a group of experts, free from hierarchical logic and belonging to one or more departments/units of the Air Force, to share mutually supportive information to better achieve objectives, within the scope of the Armed Force's mission and vision.
The concept of “Maglia” is illustrated in the new directive on “Governance” and in the communication guidelines (“Communicating by Doing”) of the Air Squad Command.
The Air Squad Command is one of the three Top Commands of the Air Force. It is responsible for training, preparing, equipping and controlling the Air Forces. High operational readiness and related adherence logistics are necessary to achieve the operational objectives defined by the Armed Force, in order to best express Aerospace Power at a joint, inter-agency and multinational level, in service of the Country.
