On Friday, 13th May, the awards ceremony took place at the Church of Christ in Brindisi. The award, now in its 14th edition, was established in the city of Brindisi to commemorate Marco Roveda, a young man who tragically died as a result of a road accident. The young man's family, in addition to awarding a plaque to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their professional activities, annually awards two scholarships to students at the ITIS ‘G. Marconi’ in Brindisi, the institution attended by the deceased young man. The reason for the award was: “An Air Force department that has always carried out its institutional operational continuity through the exemplary, silent, and irreplaceable work of its military and civilian personnel.” The commemorative plaque was presented by Mrs Roveda to Colonel Giambattista Degiuli, Commander of the Airport Detachment. Colonel Degiuli, while thanking them for the attention shown to the Airport Detachment, highlighted to those present that the awarding of the Prize should be seen as the result of the work of the entire Armed Force, considering the trust that the Air Force places in its personnel, who are always placed in conditions to give their utmost in service to the country in the fulfilment of their assigned mission. Colonel Degiuli also emphasised how such events help to strengthen and invigorate the already excellent relationship with the city of Brindisi.
