Douhet students awarded at the “Young Readers” Von Rezzori Literary Prize in Florence

Prize winners from the School who participated in the literary festival

Last week, the awards ceremony for students who distinguished themselves as budding literary critics within the Gregor Von Rezzori International Literary Competition took place in Florence. This was a competition within a competition, called “Young Readers.” Over a hundred participating students were invited to write a review of one of the five finalist books in the international literary competition.

In the setting of Palazzo Vecchio, the awards ceremony took place where the students from Douhet won three first prizes out of five: student Celine Joudioux won for her review of the novel “L’Arcipelago della nuova vita” by Andreï Makine, student Gabriele Vito Mazzara won for his review “Tutto quello che è un uomo”, a short story by David Szalay, and student Gaia Pazzaglia won for her review of Lawrence Osborne’s book “Cacciatori nel buio”.

In addition to the winners, three more special mentions were awarded to students Virginia Guglielmi, Elena Hausberger, and Giannunzio Taranto for the high quality of their literary work.

The School has participated in the event for four years with consistently first-class results, so much so that reviews have sometimes been used by ‘expert’ critics for their final report. The jury of the “Young Readers” Prize was chaired by Alba Donati and comprised Elisabetta Beneforti, Silvia Costantino, Ilaria Giannini, Eleonora Pinzuti, and Gaia Rau.
