Colonel Salvatore Lombardi succeeds Colonel Maurizio Ortenzi
On Thursday, 15th September, the change of command ceremony of the Headquarters of the Air Force Schools Command / 3rd Air Region, between Colonel Maurizio Ortenzi, outgoing commander, and Colonel Salvatore Lombardi, incoming commander.
The event, chaired by Brigadier General Romeo Paternò, Deputy Commander of the School Command A.M./3rd Air Region of Bari, took place in the presence of numerous religious, civil and military authorities and all the personnel of the Headquarters.
It Colonel Ortenzi, after thanking the numerous authorities and guests who attended, he retraced the key stages of his command, highlighting how the “The Air Force Schools Command Headquarters/3rd Air Region is one of the most complex departments in the Armed Forces, which has managed to face all challenges with generosity, overcoming them with distinction.“Colonel Ortenzi, addressing all personnel directly, stated that “Wherever I may be in my future assignments, I will not forget what you men and women of Headquarters have taught me, and above all, what you have given me in terms of human and professional growth. For this reason, I am immensely grateful.“.
It Colonel Lombardi, after thanking the superior authorities for the task entrusted to him, during his inauguration speech, he highlighted that in recent days he had the opportunity to “to appreciate the constant, admirable and silent work of all civilian and military personnel”and concluded by stating that “Together we will be able to face the countless challenges that await us with serenity and achieve extremely important objectives, contributing to the ‘flight towards the future’ of our Armed Force… as the motto of the Centenary of the Air Force, which will be celebrated next year, states.“.

The Headquarters of the Air Force Schools Command / 3rd Air Region, located at the Bari Palese Military Airport, is tasked with providing logistical-administrative support and security for the installations of the same School Command headquartered in Bari and for the numerous bodies and departments present at the Bari Palese Military Airport.
