At the event, chaired by General Colagrande, Commander of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, a representative of the Group’s staff participated.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Commander of the 46th Air Brigade, Brigadier General Aurelio Colagrande, and the Commander of the Flight Department, Colonel Daniele De Cesari. In his farewell speech, the outgoing Commander emphasized his satisfaction for having had the opportunity to command a Group so rich in history and tradition; at the same time, the incoming Commander thanked Brigadier General Colagrande for the trust placed in him, assuring his commitment to lead the 50th in the spirit of continuity in order to achieve new and prestigious goals. The 50th Group, together with the 2nd and the 98th Group, is part of the Flight Department of the 46th Air Brigade, within which it operates with C-130J aircraft; numerous are the transport, tactical and strategic missions, refuelling and air-refuelling missions carried out daily by the Brigade’s transport aircraft, often in difficult environmental conditions, from Iraq to Iran, from Haiti to Malaysia, from Côte d’Ivoire to Lebanon, from Mali to Chad, and up to the recent missions carried out in Libya and Egypt. The 46th Air Brigade ensures the strategic and tactical air transport for missions within and beyond national borders; emergency medical transport, air evacuation, the transport of materials, men and equipment worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year thanks to the men and equipment of the three Flight Groups: 2nd, 50th and 98th.
