The Brindisi Air Detachment supports the UN peacekeeping operations. The means and materials owned by the United Nations, stored at the UNSC/UNLB depots, will be used to support the UN mission in Syria, decided by the Security Council with Resolution No. 2042 of April 14, 2012, which provided for the deployment of observers to monitor the ceasefire. The aircraft, coming from Frankfurt (Germany), landed in Brindisi at 18:51 on Monday, May 7, and after the loading operations it departed for Damascus (Syria) at 12:54 the following day. The Brindisi Air Force Detachment, under the command of the Deputy Logistics Commander of the Air Force, provides support for the “peacekeeping” activities of the United Nations Global Service Center (UNGSC) and humanitarian activities of the Humanitarian Emergency Response Base (UNHRD).
