A helicopter of the “Bundespolizei” was deployed at the Brindisi Airport Detachment. In the operation, conducted by the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (Frontex), in which Italy is one of the member countries, a “PUMA SAE 330” helicopter belonging to the Bundespolizei, the German federal police, was deployed in Brindisi from November 12 to December 12.
The purpose of the mission is the patrolling of the borders of the Adriatic coast, the Otranto Channel and the Ionian Sea, in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza.
The “Frontex” operation aims to coordinate operational cooperation between the Member States in the field of managing external borders, assisting them in training national border guards and developing common standards in training matters.
