The handover ceremony with General Inspector Raffaele Tortora took place on September 1st. General D’Orazio, who currently holds the previous positions of Head of the Administration Department of the Commissariat and Administration Service and Head of the General Coordination Office of the Administrative Responsibility Center, expressed his gratitude to the Superior Authorities for the trust granted to him and emphasized the value of the experience gained with General Tortora in the last year; for the future, he declared his determination to continue with enthusiasm and great commitment on the path traced, expressing the conviction that he can count on the faithful collaboration and the spirit of teamwork of all the staff.
Finally, General Marani took the floor, thanking General Tortora for the professional work carried out at the Command of the Service, and wished to highlight the remarkable personal and professional qualities that enabled him to achieve the brilliant results previously mentioned in a sector of particular importance for the Armed Forces, such as that managed by the Commissariat and Administration Service. He confirmed his sincere esteem for General D’Orazio, wishing him the best of success in the new important assignment. General Tortora will assume the position of Assistant Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Defence (IASD) at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Defence. ———————– Brigadier General Arnaldo D’Orazio was born in Rome on June 30, 1951 and graduated in Law from the University of Rome in 1975. Appointed in the Air Force in 1977 as a Commissioned Officer in the Regular Role, he was promoted to Brigadier General on July 1st, 2007. After holding numerous positions both in the F.A. and Inter-Service sectors, he was assigned, at the rank of Colonel, to the Logistics Command of the AM, where he was first Chief of the Budget and Programming Office from 1999 to 2002, and subsequently Chief of the Contracts and Administration Office of the 2nd Division from 2002 to 2006. In the academic year 2006/2007 he attended the IASD at the Center for Advanced Studies in Defense. From July 15th, 2007 to September 29th, 2010, he held the positions of Chief of the General Office for Internal Control of the AM and Chief of the General Office for Coordination of Prevention and Vigilance Against Occupational Accidents. Since November 15th, 2010, he is Chief of the Department for Administration of the Commissioning and Administration Service and Chief of the General Coordination Office of the Center for Administrative Responsibility. General D’Orazio is awarded several honors, including the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, the Mauriziana Medal, the Gold Cross for Military Service and the NATO Medal for the interventions of the Armed Forces in Kosovo. He has been married since 1979 to Mrs. Chiara, and has one daughter.
