Niger: KC-767A lands at Ciampino with Italian and foreign passengers

This morning at first light, a... landed at Ciampino Airport, home of the 31st Wing, the KC-767A of the 14th Wing of the Italian Air Force with On board, 99 passengers, Italians and foreigners, who have left Niger following the crisis caused by the coup of last July 26th.

It Secretary of Defence, Guido Crosetto, she commented: “Operation concluded. Welcome home! The safe return of the 99 passengers, Italian and foreign, who have left Niger is a result achieved thanks to the close collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Defence. It 14th Wing, based at the “Mario de Bernardi” military airport in Pratica di Mare, it is under the command of the Mobility and Support Forces Command in Rome. The Wing conducts air surveillance missions with Gulfstream G-550 CAEW aircraft, radiomeasurement and tactical transport, also for the Department of Civil Protection, with P-180 Avanti I and II aircraft, and in-flight refuelling, strategic transport and transport in biocontainment with the KC-767A aircraft. The CFMS is subordinate to the Air Squadrons Command and exercises its powers regarding the training, preparation, and operational readiness of its own Units, so that they acquire and maintain the expected levels of operational readiness.
