There are two C-130J aircraft of the Italian Air Force landed in Egypt in recent days with the aim of bringing humanitarian aid destined for the Palestinian population. The first C-130J aircraft 46th Air Brigade of Pisa he had set off last Monday, October 30th, transporting the material to the Rafah crossing in Egypt, from where he then set off again to reach Gaza by land, through the Red Crescent.

The second shipment with further aid aimed at providing humanitarian support to the population affected by the ongoing conflict in Middle East it was instead carried out on Tuesday 31 October.

Both flights, organised in cooperation between the Foreign Office, the’UN and the Red Crescent, they have left from Brindisi Air Base and they transported several tonnes of essential goods destined to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians, including tents, blankets, chemical toilets and water containers.

“It is important at a time when a terrible tragedy for humanity is unfolding in the Middle East that Italy has sent a signal to the civilian population bearing the brunt of the impact. Hamas is not the Palestinian population; rather, it is the civilians, including many children, the elderly, and women, who are the true victims of this conflict, just as Israeli civilians and hostages are. The international community must act to guarantee them food, water, and medicine. Italy, among the first to show this sensitivity, along with France and Great Britain, is doing so. However, a concerted effort is now needed from the UN, NATO, and the EU., so the Secretary of Defence, Guido Crosetto has commented on the departure of the second aid package for the Palestinian people. “Italy was among the first countries to bring aid, and I hope there will be a race from all over the world to help the civilian population and to seek every possible way for a de-escalation of tensions in the area.
