Training activity carried out at Careggi Hospital in collaboration with the Florence Health Authority. Doctors and nurses from the Air Force Military Institute of Aeronautics in Florence, along with colleagues from the Army, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza, took part in the recent weeks in the first “Medical Emergencies Course for the Armed Forces,” organised for military and civilian personnel in the Health Support categories, thanks to the collaboration initiated between the Florence Health Authority, specifically the Director of the Emergency Department of
CareggiDr Stefano Grifoni, and the Armed Forces of the Florence Garrison. Participants were thus able to implement their knowledge in the medical and healthcare fields, refining all those activities and manoeuvres that are promptly applied in emergency response to acute events and in the management of critical situations. The Careggi Emergency Department, following a series of agreements, the first of which was signed in 2015, has prepared a training plan in emergency medicine which began on
10 September 2018and this involved attending theoretical lessons and a practical internship for both military medical and nursing staff at the emergency and reception department, the orthopaedics department, the ear, nose and throat department, the ophthalmology department, the toxicology department, the paediatrics department, the surgery department and the obstetrics and gynaecology department of the Careggi University Hospital. This collaboration between Military Healthcare and the Regional Health Service allows for an exchange of valuable professional experiences that enable uniformed personnel to enhance their caregiving skills, not only for the military but also for populations in operational areas, and will enable Tuscan Healthcare to strengthen coordination with the Armed Forces, leveraging their dual-use capabilities in the event of major emergencies.
The Air Force Military Science InstituteISMA), which is subordinate to the Command of the 3rd Air Force Region Schools, is the centre for numerous training activities including the Normal Master Course, the Staff Course for Captains of the Special Ranks, and further training opportunities for Majors/Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels who will assume the role of Group and Department Commander. Additionally, a Seminar for Brigadier Generals has been introduced, offering a clear opportunity for reflection and the exchange of experiences.
