Thursday, 18th March, the Minister of Health, Professor Fazio, pinned the Medal onto the War Flag. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force was present at the ceremony. Reason for the award:
“For the multiplicity and effectiveness of the interventions carried out by its men on humanitarian missions, who, with commendable spirit of sacrifice and unconditional commitment, intervened nationally, internationally and in support of the designated bodies, providing healthcare and emergency medicine, for the benefit of communities affected by serious natural disasters and seismic events, including Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Pakistan, the Tsunami in the oceanic area, up to the relief provided during the explosion of the weapons depot in Albania in 2009. The commitment of these brave servicemen also covered support activities for the ‘Give Light Back’ programme for the populations of Central Africa in the process of development.”
