An Atlantic aircraft of the 41st Air Wing of the Air Force intercepted a boat with migrants on board. The Air Force aircraft flew over the area in order to signal impending danger situations. The information was promptly relayed to the operational center of the humanitarian operation “Mare Nostrum”. The contribution of the Atlantic aircraft of the 41st Air Wing was important; thanks to its high speed of intervention, a few hours after takeoff from the base of Sigonella, it located the boat sailing towards the Sicilian coast, thus enabling the prompt initiation of all necessary coordination efforts aimed at activating the rescue operations of the naval units.
