On Saturday 11 May, the Armed Force was awarded honorary citizenship by the City of Trani.
Sunday 12 May, on the seafront of the City of Trani, the air show “Trani Air Show 2024”The air show, organised by the Aero Club of Bari and the City of Trani, was enhanced by an exhibition space set up by staff from the 5th “Communication” Department of the Air Force Staff, featuring a flight simulator (a faithful reproduction of a real aircraft cockpit). The programme continued with the performance, among others, of an “Autogyro” from the Bari Aeroclub, a helicopter from the Guardia di Finanza which simulated the pursuit of a vessel engaged in illicit trafficking, and two fighter aircraft. Eurofighter Typhoon of the 36th Wing from Gioia del Colle which flew over the area.
There was enormous interest among viewers in the demonstration of Search and Rescue (Search and Rescue) carried out by a crew of the’84° SAR Centre Aboard a helicopter HH-139A. In particular, an open sea rescue mission was simulated with the recovery of a shipwrecked person using a winch.
The demonstration culminated in the acrobatic display of the National Acrobatic Patrol Thanks to intense and continuous training, which allows for spectacular evolutions with aircraft barely a couple of metres apart, they literally enthralled the audience present, offering 25 minutes of pure adrenaline with crossings and re-pairings of the two sections, alternating with the acrobatic manoeuvres of the soloist “Pony 10”.
It Lieutenant Colonel Massimiliano Salvatore, Commander of the 313° Aerobatic Training Group, at the end of the event, he declared: “Performing for the first time in this splendid city has been a source of great enthusiasm and pride. The affection and passion that the audience has shown us are our greatest reward.”.
On the evening before the demonstration, the Italian Air Force was awarded the Honorary Citizenship donated by the City of Trani. A tribute made as a testament to a considerable civic commitment that the Blue Army has honored by participating in international missions to help Populations in need. To collect the flattering recognition, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Luca Goretti, who thanked the city of Trani and its representative authorities with these words: “We are proud and honoured by this recognition that the City of Trani bestows upon us today. For us, it is a source of pride because it represents the success of the silent work carried out by the men and women serving the country as members of the Air Force.”.
In Piazza Quercia, however, the Fanfare of the Air Force Schools Command / 3rd Air Region in Bari, directed by 1st Lieutenant Nicola Cotugno She performed with a concert open to the public, the notes of which also provided the backdrop for a fascinating and evocative choreography offered by two local dance schools.
The Air Shows enable the Air Force to increasingly consolidate its closeness to citizens, demonstrating operational capabilities that, in addition to the excellence of the “Made in Italy”for which the Frecce Tricolori act as ambassadors worldwide, are placed at the service of the country daily.
